On May 30th, I’ll be running a marathon in memory of my dad, who I lost to throat cancer two years ago.

I’m aiming to raise $10,550 — $250 for every kilometre I run, after reaching my original $4,200 goal in just two days.

Head and neck cancer treatment can be traumatic and difficult physically and emotionally. Side effects can be life-changing, including swallowing difficulties, speech changes, breathing issues, pain, ongoing fatigue, appearance changes, malnutrition/weight loss and mental health challenges.

Funds raised will support people affected by this devastating cancer, as well as advocacy, education and awareness. There is currently no national screening program for head and neck cancer, which makes knowing the early warning signs so important.

Any donation or share would mean a lot to me. Thank you 🤍

About Peter:

Dad was a devoted father, husband, brother and family man, and someone who genuinely cared about making a difference in the lives of others.

Throughout his life, Dad was a pioneer in organic and sustainable hair and beauty, founding Abaché Organics, Eco.kid, Organix and Plantworx. He was also a World Master Hairdresser, award-winning trichologist, salon owner and organic formulator.

A big part of Dad’s later work centred around plant-based medicine, skin health and protecting people from the damaging effects of radiation, particularly for people undergoing radiotherapy cancer treatment. His formulations and work continue to support ground-breaking research and clinical trial pathways, honouring his legacy and his hope of helping improve the lives of others.

He was a loving, passionate and generous man who is deeply missed by all who knew him. Dad’s life was built around care, vision and positive change; this run is one small way I can honour him and carry part of that legacy forward.
